MIXED METALS - THE ART OF THE MIX

Can polished nickel and satin gold live harmoniously in the same space? The answer is always, yes.

Embarking on a total renovation means the ability to start fresh. These homeowners embraced that opportunity, making life more luxurious through high-end fixtures. Perfectly matched, however, was not a criteria and the master bath, guest bathroom, powder room and mudroom were all designed as their own unique spaces. The design is cohesive instead of chaotic thanks to the aesthetic synergy from House of Rohl.

A stunning matte black Victoria + Albert tub fills the space, but in this master bathroom gold is king. Rohl Graceline faucets in a satin gold finish and an intricate chandelier were paired with grey veined marble tiles that subtly nod to the polished nickel seen throughout the rest of the home.

Wall color can often make a dramatic statement and provide the perfect backdrop for design. The guest baths dark inky walls were complimented with a stunning floor to ceiling wall of tile. In the powder room, Sanderson’s Swallows wallpaper in gold and black perfectly paired with the traditional Perrin & Rowe Deco faucet in polished nickel.

The mudroom was designed with tradition in mind, incorporating natural tones featured in a jute framed mirror and a Rohl faucet with ceramic cross handles.

The design adage that says ‘buy what you love and it will always work together’ may be true but mastering the mix is a careful balance between planning and following your instincts. The most interesting spaces defy convention but they still require smart choices when it comes to quality and style.
